Custom Binding
We provide all kinds of book binding for any purpose including course reader, document collection, general printing.

Book Binding
Binding has been an important part of sharing and preserving printed materials for centuries. The way you choose to bind your documents depends on how you plan to use or present them—whether it’s for a professional report, a presentation, or a personal project.
At Unique Signs & Prints, we offer a variety of binding options to suit your needs. Below is an overview of the different techniques we provide and the most common ways they’re used.
Coil Binding
Coil binding uses a durable, spring-like plastic coil that is threaded through small holes punched along the edge of your pages. It’s available in various sizes to fit different page counts, making it a flexible option for everything from slim booklets to thicker manuals.
We also offer coils in a wide range of colors—including custom options—so you can match your brand colors, logo, or design elements for a cohesive, professional look.
One of the biggest advantages of coil binding is its ability to lay completely flat when open. This makes it ideal for workbooks, manuals, or study guides—anytime you need hands-free reading or writing.

Wire-O Binding
Wire-O binding also starts with hole-punched pages, but instead of using plastic coils, a sleek metal wire is inserted and crimped into place to secure the document.
Many of our clients choose Wire-O for its refined, high-end appearance. Because it’s less commonly used than coil binding, it offers a more distinctive and polished look—perfect for presentations, portfolios, or any materials where making a strong impression matters. The metal wire also adds a touch of sophistication compared to plastic alternatives.
Just like coil binding, Wire-O allows the pages to lay flat when open, making it a great choice for reference materials or anything that needs to be easy to read and use.
Comb Binding
Comb binding is similar to coil and Wire-O styles but uses a flexible plastic "comb" to hold the pages together. While it’s one of the more traditional binding methods, many of our clients still prefer it for its simplicity and reliability.
Just like other mechanical bindings, comb binding allows pages to lay flat when open, making it a practical option for manuals, study guides, and training materials.

Velo Binding
Velo binding also begins with hole-punched pages, but instead of using coils or wires, it uses a two-part flat strip that’s heat-sealed to secure the document tightly.
This method is still commonly required for official submissions in many court systems, making it a go-to choice for legal briefs and formal documents. It’s also great for archiving, thanks to its compact and secure finish—the binding strip stays flush with the edge of the pages for a clean, space-saving look.
Unlike coil or wire binding, velo binding does not lay flat when open, but its durability and professional appearance make it a solid option for permanent or formal use.
Tape Binding
Tape binding uses a heat-activated strip that’s applied along the spine and fused in place using a high-temperature machine. The strip wraps neatly around the binding edge, giving the book a clean, finished appearance.
Tape strips are available in a variety of colors, including custom options—perfect for matching brand colors or coordinating with your design theme.
While tape-bound books don’t lay flat when open, like velo binding, this method is often chosen for its neat look and sturdy finish. It’s a popular option for course readers, illustrated books, and professional presentations.

Booklet/Saddle Stitch Binding
Saddle stitching is a classic binding method where printed sheets are folded in half and stapled along the fold to create a finished booklet. This technique can be used to produce booklets in a range of sizes—from compact, pocket-sized formats to standard 8.5" x 11" booklets (created by folding larger sheets).
This binding style is commonly used for newsletters, event programs, catalogs, magazines, comic books, and more. When produced in larger quantities, saddle stitching is one of the most cost-effective options available—making it a smart choice for high-volume projects.
Hole Punching
Circular hole punching is typically used for documents that will be placed in standard ring binders. However, it can also be used creatively—for example, punching a single hole in the corner of a set of pages and securing them with a loose binder ring.
This approach is especially useful for materials that need to be easily referenced and possibly hung on a hook in a workspace, such as checklists, instructional guides, or rotating schedules. For added durability, these documents are often laminated to withstand frequent handling.

Perfect Binding
Perfect binding features a single sheet of cover stock that wraps around the front, spine, and back of the document—creating a polished, book-like finish similar to what you’d see on a standard paperback.
This method is available in a range of sizes and is suitable for both small and large quantities, whether you're producing just a few copies or several hundred. Perfect binding is a popular choice for annual reports, published studies, product catalogs, books for sale, and a wide variety of professional or commercial projects.
Please note that perfect binding typically requires a few days for production, due to the precise finishing involved.
Hard Cover Binding
Hardcover binding is widely regarded as one of the most premium and sophisticated binding options available. It offers a wide range of custom finishes, including full-color printed covers, leather wraps with foil stamping, recessed panels, embossing, and more—perfect for creating a truly standout presentation.
Our clients often choose hardcover binding for high-end sales materials, commemorative books, tributes, art books, coffee table editions, and “wrap books” for completed film or television productions. It's an ideal choice when you want to make a lasting impression.
Hardcover books can be produced in fully custom sizes to match your project’s exact specifications.

Service Detail
Most of the binding methods listed above can be completed with a quick turnaround—often the same day or even while you wait, especially for small quantities needed on short notice.

Paper Stocks
The right paper can greatly enhance your project. Basic documents don’t need special stock, but marketing and presentations benefit from choosing the proper finish and thickness.
At Unique Signs & Prints, we offer a wide range of paper options—from matte to gloss, in various weights—so your materials look and feel just right.

Cover Options
The cover plays a key role in the final look of any bound document. For quick-turnaround bindings, clear vinyl fronts and black vinyl backs are popular choices. Some clients prefer cardstock covers, which can be printed in black and white or full color, depending on the project and presentation needs.

Customization
Most binding options can be customized to enhance your project’s look. At Unique Signs & Prints, we’ll help you choose the best features to make a strong impression—especially for sales or marketing materials.
Popular customizations include thicker covers, rounded corners, and durable laminations to make your documents stand out.
